Hi, my name's Will Mitchell.  I'm a indie-folk artist living in Washington, DC.  I write about different things.  They're almost always from my own life experiences.  I've been writing music since I was very young, and its never gotten old to me.  I really want to write something that is just undeniably beautiful..or just really..I don't know...life-affirming?  The quest continues..  I play piano, guitar, some bass, and some banjo.  I am terrible at the drums.  I mean, I am remarkably bad at them.

I was born in Montgomery, AL in 1983.  My parents named me Will after my dad William (who goes by Bill).  I had a very happy childhood, and life continues to give me very little to complain about (this is why I don't play the blues).  I went to college at Berklee in Boston when I was 18.  I majored in songwriting (yes, that's a major).  After that I moved to Atlanta, GA with my good friend Joe Koubek and we started the band Future Self.  Joe moved to Florida, and I stayed behind.  I met some other musicians and friends...We brought Future Self back for a while, but like many things it didn't last.

So now its just me.  Its good though because I need more accountability in my life.  If I succeed or fail its all on me, and there's something invigorating about that.

Atlanta is great because its a big city...There's lots of different places to go and things to see...Its also not far from my family in Alabama.  Now I work on music for myself and others, I teach, and I do other music related things.  I also play around town so come check out my songs.

Anyways, I'm going to conclude this rather pointless biography.  I write music because it makes me happy...because I am compelled to do it.  I hope you like it.  But if you don't, that's OK too.
